What the hell happened to Mosley?

I watched the Mayweather/Mosley bout in a theatre last night and have never been so bummed watching a fight in my life.

After flurrying and almost knocking Mayweather down in the 2nd, Mosley completely shut down. The effect was immediate.

The enthusiasm and drive had disappeared, and you could see it in Shane's face. He just looked totally lifeless for the next 10 rounds. What happened?

Now, like most, I didn't expect Mosley to win. But I REALLY didn't expect Mosley to wobble Mayweather like he did. He turned Mayweather's legs into jell-o, something that has never been done, then just gave up!

Was this nothing more than a payday for Shane?

Did he care at all about winning?|||It's not so much what happened to Shane Mosley, it's what Floyd Mayweather did to make Mosley's aggression stop working.

Mosley never gave up, it's just that Floyd had him figured out by the third round- if you've ever seen Mayweather fight before, then you would know that he is a "thinking man's" fighter meaning that he is able to adjust and adapt to whatever his opponents brings to him, which is the reason why in many of his fights, he either loses or doesn't look great in the first few rounds but by the 3rd or 4th round, he is well in control and just dominates his opponents down the stretch. Mosley only had 1 gear for Mayweather and that gear was to just come forward and try to land something big and that's just not good enough to beat a defensive mastermind like Mayweather who can adjust to any kind of situation; the only type of fighter that would ever be able to beat Mayweather is one who can implement many different styles or techniques (someone who can be aggressive but also can switch it up to box at times when it's needed).

By the third round, Mayweather knew that Mosley had the power to hurt him, so he adjusted and went strictly back to boxing, which is why after the second round ended, you could hear the concern in Floyd's corner with Leonard Ellerbe saying "you need to get back to BOXING this motherfukcer." Floyd listened to his corner and by the next round, he had everything under control and once Floyd is in control of a fight, it is extremely difficult, if not impossible to get him out of his groove and Mayweather just cruised and dominated Shane to a lopsided unanimous decision.

Mosley cared about winning and he did try to win the fight but his plan and his ability just wasn't good enough to beat Mayweather- he was just looking for another big shot after the second round and Mayweather knew that, so he simply picked him apart and countered him all night long. Mosley became just another opponent to Mayweather who gets frustrated after they realize what they're up against- Mosley had the same look on his face in the mid-rounds that Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricky Hatton, Carlos Baldomir and virtually every other opponent has on their face when they realize that they can't hit Floyd cleanly and he's simply too great at counter punching for them to have a legitimate shot at beating him. When Floyd's opponents get that look on their face, their whole plan goes out the window and Mayweather shows us why he's undefeated and is a truly great fighter- one of the best and most supremely talented of this generation.

Mosley has never had a good jab and that is one of the things that you need in order to beat Mayweather, and what Mosley should have been doing from the beginning of the fight was pressuring Floyd and backing him up to the ropes and going to his body because in Mayweather's closest fight to date against Jose Luis Castillo which many people felt he should have lost, Castillo had his best success when he pressured Floyd to the ropes and went to his body but as they say "easier said than done." Mosley had the opportunity to stop Mayweather in the second round but he couldn't capitalize on it and after that round, Mayweather's defense and counter punching was simply too much for Mosley to overcome and in certain parts of the fight, Floyd actually outfought Mosley which was surprising considering that Floyd rarely takes chances and usually stays on the outside and potshots all night long.

It wasn't that Mosley had a bad performance, it was that Mayweather had a great performance.|||I watched it last night on PPV. As soon as Mosley went to the corner after the 2nd round, I told everybody that this fight is over and for the next 10 rounds Mayweather will win. How did I know? Shane's face looked so tired after the flurry in the 2nd round. In the 3rd round, he only attempted 7 punches, that's how tired he was.

Shane wanted to win but he didn't have what it take to beat Mayweather.

Congratulations to both fighters.|||Mosely tried his hardest to put Floyd away, DID YOU FORGET THAT FLOYD IS A DEFENSIVE GENIUS?.................................鈥?br>

Floyd covered up protected himself-Mosely could no longer land big shots...................................鈥?br>

and at the end of that round Floyd actually came back and landed some big shots of his own..........

Floyd figured out what he was doing wrong, fixed it and the rest was history!

YOU SAW IT JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE- FLOYD HAPPENED TO SHANE!|||so now mosley is just a guy who throws fights? listen to yourself. wtf. why cant you accept the fact mayweather is the best. appreciate his talent. i like mayweather because i missed out on roy jones. dont regret not appreciating a special talent.|||Being almost 40 years old and inactive for almost a year and a half is what happened to Mosley. It showed.|||Mayweather became more aggressive and left no room for big shots. He said he couldn't make adjustments.|||Mosley got "out everythinged"|||We all can see what Floyd does but it is what you can't that is what makes him great and the only way you can see it is be in the ring with him. Now since we can't all fight him and most of us would not if we had the chance I am going to attempt to tell you what it is that makes all fighters look bad when they fight Money. It is his mind Floyd is smarter than all the people he has beaten he has a way of applying pressure on you with out hitting you. A lot of fighters can do this to some degree but the level Mayweather does it is something so special that I can not think of another fighter that does it this well. When you are in front of Floyd and your thinking about throwing a punch but you can see he has already adjusted to what you are thinking about doing and if you throw it your going to get countered and you can see it . Now why your dealing with that he is moving you around the ring to punch you it is really hard to think that fast and clear and fight at the same time. So while your thinking and being hit by clean shots that you have never been hit with by anyone you become a spectator in your own fight. It;s like your watching a movie of your self getting the hell beat out of you and you know there is nothing you can do about it but try to survive because you can see one mistake will open the door for Money to come in and shut your lights out. Shane did a great job of not getting knock out because Money was trying to knock him out but Shane had enough in him to prevent it. Shane has nothing to be ashamed of he fought the only fight he could have fought with out getting knocked out. I hope I have explained this clear enough for those of you who have never been in a real pro boxing match. Let me say this after last night if there is anyone who doubts that Floyd is the best fighter on earth you have a real problem with reality don't bring up Manny, Paul Williams , Tim Bradly or anyone else Money is something very special enjoy him now because just like Roy Jones Jr it does not last forever. I am not a Floyd lover I am a boxing lover and anytime I can learn something new about anything I am watching and listening watching Floyd work is pure genius. The person that will beat Money does not exist right now Marquez lost every round Mosley won only one round

I don't want to hear anything about size or weight or race none of that Money is the best fighter alive.
