Would there be legal consequences for this?

Last Sunday, an old house-like building that used to be a daycare center was damaged in a fire. The majority of the building is destroyed. The daycare center had been out of operation for a little over 10 years. The person who took over the center was devastated (I know her because she was a teacher when I was in 8th grade) when she had seen the charred remains of the building. Her mother started the daycare center back in 1987, but she is deceased now and her daughter and family had taken over thereafter. I think that they closed down in 2001. The abandoned building is still standing only be fluke, but it is probably very weak due to the beams and supports being damaged in the blaze. If I was to throw enough bricks and rocks at the building and break the windows and knock it down completely, could I get in trouble even though the building is "no good"? The building is no longer safe or usable. Could I get into trouble for destroying it or what's left of it?|||Trespassing, destruction of property, reckless endangerment....lots of legal trouble.

It doesn't matter the state of the building. It is not yours and you do not have proper demolition permits or permissions to try and take it down.|||Yes, you can get into trouble. The property does not belong to you and you are damaging it.

The cost in damages you are responsible for is a matter of debate, but the owners of the building are within their rights to push for the cost of all repairs to restore the building to its semi-delapidated form.|||It's a possibility, however, @ least in the city where I live there's a whole bunch of abandoned property and anything is possible even wild animal taking over the place. In my opinion, the municipal governments should do more for the benefit of their people, and not simply looking the other way. Everything is going from bad to worst. See if you could get more creative from this experience, who knows maybe you could be some type of a personality.|||You could get in trouble for trespassing, and if she was so hurt by losing the building, I'm sure she would charge you.
