Is there a website where I can get someone name and phone # from their license plate?

I went to get my paper this morning, and my whole mailbox and newspaper box was completely knocked down!!!! and I found someone license plate next to it!!! I'm guessing someone hit it last night, and it came off. I don't want to report it to police because then their insurance would go up, they would get fined, and all that crap. I don't want to do that to someone I don't even know, because for all I know, it could have been a stolen car! but i want to return the license plate... so how can i contact this person?|||You can't. Someone who did a hit and run deserves to have their insurance go up because it is very likely they were drunk. If they next kill someone, you are partly responsible for not stopping them now.

Call the Police and make a report.|||No, because Federal law prohibits the release of information to anyone other than law enforcement, towing companies with actual possession of a car, or insurance companies with a claim.

Drivers Privacy Protection Act

18 U.S.C. 搂 2721 et. seq.

(Public Law 103-322)

Section 2721. Prohibition on release and use of certain personal information from State motor vehicle records...

Of course, in your situation, the police would be able to, so call them and make a report and let them investigate and do the contacts.|||You're better off going to the Police and telling them. You're being way too merciful to the person who smashed you letter box.

God is Merciful, and he is at the same time Just. You can be merciful to people who have done minor sins, but if you ask me- smashing down someones letterbox is a crime. This person needs to suffer the consequences of his/her own actions.

By the way- there's something co-incidental about what happened over at your place. A few weeks ago, someone pulled the top of our letter box off! And they damaged a lot of other letter boxes in the street, too!lol|||Think about it - if you could look up soemone's personal information using their license plate number, then anybody could find out your personal information from your license plate number. Do you really want that?

Well, neither does the government, which is why you can't look up information like that.|||You're better off reporting it, to be honest. I don't think there's any publicly available service which gives such information away to citizens. Protection of privacy and that.|||you can contact the DVLA for 拢2.50 you can get the owners details
